This morning I did not feel like running.  My sleep pattern is off this summer and I have been staying up way too late (11pm) and waking up way to early (5am).  I completely realize that a lot of people get a lot less sleep than me and I am not whining as this is completely my own fault.  Anyway I have the above picture set as my screen savor on my home computer and after I read it this morning I was out the door in 10 seconds flat.

Whether it is a friend that is dealing with an ongoing injury or illness, someone who physically cannot run, or someone that has passed on from this earth we all know someone who CAN'T RUN!

Lets run for them.  Today I ran for my brother and although I was tired I ran hard for him because I know he would do the same for me.

Who will you run for when you are lacking motivation?

  1. I will run for my neighbor with Lupus that's flaring up again and keeping her from returning to school this fall. Sigh.

  2. ohhh! i think that is really cool that you have this saved as your screen saver! such a good idea! I usually run for my family...maybe not for the same reason but similarly. I think they look to me sometimes for motivation and so I want to show them that I won't give up. Also...deep down I hope some day that my dad will go back to running. He always loved it...way more than I ever have and was SO good.

Very inspirational post! Thank you for the motivation reminder...I needed it this week :)

  3. I will run for all of the children who, because of disease, illness, or hospitalization, cannot act like care-free kids are supposed to act and who have to grow up way too fast. Seriously, there are just so many people who are fighting just to breathe and survive each day...my excuses seem pretty feeble when compared to that. Thanks for this post...good reminder!

  4. Such a good motivator. My sister has had brain cancer since she was 5 (now she's 22) and while she is tough and can walk for hours, she will never be able to run. I run for her :)

  6. i run because my husband is my inspiration, he gives me such motivation. I run to talk to GOd, to connect to Him, to thank him for my legs and my abilities.

  7. There was a solider from my hometown that was killed in Iraq. He loved to run so every year since he died his family and community put on a 5k race in his name. The first year they gave out bracelets that say "Run for Joe". I wear that bracelet at races as a reminder of how blessed I am to be able to do what I do.

  8. I love that - what a great message and inspiration to get out there. I have a neighbor who was paralyzed at 16. She is about 20 now. I see her bike all the time, but she certainly can't run. I will think about her the next time I want to quit.

  9. That is EXACTLY what needs to go on the team Trevor shirt. I'm thinking hard about doing the race with you. I just need to make some arrangements.

  11. Rachelle that is a wonderful post! I love it and it really gives me something to think about. I always think about my Father when I run because he was in a wheelchair for the last 8 years of his life, after having both legs amputated due to bad circulation... he inspires me every day.

And, p.s. I am excited to win your anniversary giveaway and will email you. Thanks!

  12. I am in the same boat - not doing very good on the sleep habits. I've gotten good at staying up too late and waking up too early.

    That quote is SWEET!
